Celebrate Florida’s Freedom Summer with a Sales Tax Holiday

Freedom Summer Sales Tax Holiday, May 29-Sept. 4, 2023

Freedom Summer is a sales tax holiday signed into law by Governor DeSantis.

This period, which runs May 29 - Sept. 4, 2023, applies to recreation, outdoor goods and gear, and admission to sports, entertainment and cultural events. Admission to Florida State Parks is included in the sales tax holiday.

The Freedom Week sales tax exemption applies to Florida State Parks as follows:

  • All day-use admission.
  • All admission to state park museums.
  • All Individual and Family Annual Entrance Passes.

Posted entrance fees at Florida State Parks are structured so that a round dollar figure includes sales tax. Because removing the sales tax from this fee would result in an uneven number, which could slow transactions at park entrances, the Division of Recreation and Parks has decided to round down all change amounts to the next dollar figure.

In effect, the entry fee is reduced by $1 for the summer. If the entrance fee is normally $6 per vehicle, it will be $5 per vehicle.

Florida State Parks is happy to provide these additional savings to all park guests.

Freedom Summer provides an excellent opportunity to purchase a Florida State Parks Annual Entrance Pass.

The Individual Annual Entrance Pass sells for $60 and the Family Entrance Pass sells for $120, and sales tax is usually added to those prices.

Annual Entrance Passes can be purchased at most staffed ranger stations or state park museums. The process can be time-consuming, and most state parks will be busy during the summer. To save time, you can purchase your Annual Entrances Passes online at Reserve.FloridaStateParks. Keep in mind, you'll have to create an account.
